#21 Bearclaw spruce and Amazon Rosewood

This is the darkest and straightest grain Amazon Rosewood that I’ve ever seen. I have several more Amazon Rosewood guitar sets, but none of the others are this perfect. The Rosewood is matched with a perfectly tiger striped Big Leaf Maple and the combination is stunning. Now add in a super stiff Engleman Spruce top with oooooodles of bearclaw figure throughout it. I wonder if I will ever make another guitar that is even more beautiful than this one?

This one is just as fun to play as it is to look at. It sings great in the upper registers, and supports the melody well on the lower registers.

This guitar has the following characteristics:

  • Engleman Spruce top.  Perfectly quartersawn with an amazing amount of bearclaw figure running through it. I wish I was a better photographer and could capture the amount of bearclaw figure present in this top.
  • Amazon Rosewood back and sides. I bought this back as a 3-piece set because the back pieces were too narrow to make a guitar back with the traditional 2 pieces of bookmatched wood. I replaced the center panel with a gorgeous curly big-leaf maple panel with a beautiful tiger stripe.
  • Curly maple bindings and headplate center panel made out of the same piece of wood as the back panel.
  • Amazon Rosewood headplate
  • Gabon Ebony fingerboard
  • Brazilian Rosewood bridge
  • Spanish Cedar neck
  • Indian Ebony arm rest. Low profile provides a softer pressure on your right forearm.
  • Rosette composed of the same woods as used in the back panels.
  • 650 mm scale length
  • 52 mm nut width, 42mm string center to center string spacing at nut.
  • Partial 20th fret for upper 2 strings
  • Gotoh premium tuners with the extra roller bearings.
  • Hauser inspired Symmetrical 7-fan bracing pattern with closure bars.
